Low fuel warning light.
03 Oct 2013 17:59
I recently bought a 1978 KZ650sr that comes with a low fuel level warning light right under the tach. I was given a part and told that it needed to be replaced before the light would work correctly. The light turns on when I turn on the ignition, but shuts off shortly after. The part I was told goes in the fuel tank, and connects to a wire. I'm not sure exactly where at in the fuel tank it goes, and I also can not find any wire that is not connected to anything. Thanks in advanced.

Assuming your bike has the KZ650-D1 (SR) fuel tank, there should be an opening in bottom of the tank on the right side opposite the petcock (the previous owner may have blocked it off). That's where the fuel level sensor should be mounted. For details on the wiring, here's the KZ650-D1 wiring diagram. Ed

Thanks a ton. I was hoping that was not the case, whoever had it before me welded a plate under the tank where that mounts. That is something I do not feel like worrying about with my mechanical skills, or lack there of... Thanks for the quick reply though.
