Flashers, only right side
03 Oct 2013 11:53
Was wondering if anyone else has had the problem with their flashers. When I switch them on, just the right side will flash. When using the turn signals, both directions work fine. Traced the wires with no luck of finding any breaks/bad wires. Any ideas on where to look for this?
Realized this the other night when I had to pull off the road and turned them on.
Not a huge deal, but obviously looking to get everything in working order.
Thanks!

LEFT FRONT TURN SIGNAL Can be an #1157 dual filament bulb
GREEN, Left front turn signal circuit.
BLUE, Left front running light circuit.
BLACK with YELLOW stripe, the ground circuit.
RIGHT FRONT TURN SIGNAL Can be an # 1157 dual filament bulb
GREY, Right front turn signal circuit.
BLUE, Right front running light circuit.
BLACK with YELLOW stripe, the ground circuit.
LEFT REAR TURN SIGNAL Can be an #1156 single filament bulb
GREEN, Left rear turn signal circuit.
BLACK with YELLOW stripe, the ground circuit.
RIGHT REAR TURN SIGNAL Can be an #1156 single filament bulb
GREY, Right rear turn signal circuit.
BLACK with YELLOW stripe, the ground circuit.
I'd replace both of the silver can flasher relays, one controls the turn signals, the other, the 4 way flashers.
Check the bulbs & grounds too.

Here's another one....don't have turn signals on bike but when I turn on ignition, the left side indicator on instrument panel lights up. All the time...even when the switch is in the center location or off. Any ideas on this one?

Most likely bad ground, broken filiment shorting to other filiment or corrosion in one or more socket.

Try swapping the two flashers and see if it works for hazzard that way.

Re: Flashers, only right side
03 Oct 2013 22:22I would suspect the handlebar switch. It makes the contact to both the R & L sides at once, power being sent through the flasher can.david-b wrote: Was wondering if anyone else has had the problem with their flashers. With both sides working normally with the Turn Signal side of the switch, I'd look at the 4 way Hazard switch inside the left control. You can test it at the Harness connector for the left control.

Re: Flashers, only right side
03 Oct 2013 22:26Since there are No Signals on the bike, there shouldn't be feed back from a bulb. Possibly the Indicator wire is connected wrong? Wrong wire/ bulb lit up but in the Turn signal indicator socket? You could just pull the wire or bulb out of that socket.racer54 wrote: Here's another one....don't have turn signals on bike but when I turn on ignition, the left side indicator on instrument panel lights up. I'll check out the switch and the flasher unit. Rained today so didn't have a chance but will check when I can. Thanks everyone.
