Howyadoin,

I decided to pull the Vetter Rooster fairing off the bike today, which created a couple of problems. One is that there's now no mounting point for the front turn signals, because they were attached to a mount on the fairing, but I can figure out a new mounting position.

The real problem is that the signals no longer work correctly. The front lights come on as running lights, and when I flip the turn signal switch, the corresponding light goes out in the front and on in the rear, and there is no flashing. I think I might have disconnected a pair of wires that went one to either side from a double connector inside the headlight can. There are 2 wires going through the mount tube to each light assembly which I believe are the running light and signal wires, and I'm not certain how the 3rd wire comes into play, a ground perhaps, or where it mounts.

I'm hoping this is something stupid, because the signals were working fine when I pulled the fairing...

The body of the turn signal, needs to be grounded. So you have the two wires, one running light, and one turn. Then the Housing needs to be grounded. So it needs to have a metal mount, or a washer with a ground wire when it is bolted up.

Ah, yes. Not having a ground, that makes sense.

I ordered used OEM handlebar mounts today so the bike will be back in original dress, with the luggage rack/sissy bar and the fairing gone.

Thanks guys!
