Well for a compression test, you need the engine warmed up, and the throttle held open, battery fully charged. Then do a dry test, then another with adding a once or so of oil to the cylinder through the plug hole. Compare the dry to wet.
You already found tight valves and readjusted those. You followed the service manual to do that, right? So you rotated the motor over to the "T" mark when there was compression at the spark plug? Since the crankshaft rotates twice to one camshaft rotation, you can have the "T" mark lined up, but be 360 degrees off.
