Source for battery cables was created by bemoore
I'm tired of fighting with my battery cables. The terminals wont stay clamped onto the cables tight enough. I want cables with hermetically sealed terminals, and with a wire coming from one terminal. I found some cables at a local auto part store, but they had no additional wires coming from the terminals. Also, they were 4 ga which I think is larger than what I have now, so the insulating boot on the + terminal on the battery won't fit. I'm not comfortable leaving that + terminal exposed.

Has anyone found a good source for battery cables for our bikes? Z1 Enterprises doesn't seem to have any.

I think www.z1enterprises.com knows where to get them, or has them in stock.

I've made my own up, using 6 AWG (American Wire Gauge) welding cable & the correct terminal ends. I got a crimper at harbor freight with several dies. If you need additional smaller wires on the terminals, you'll have to have them in place before crimping them.

I'd say crimp the terminals & then apply flux and solder to seal the ends. Battery "Boots" the right size may be hard to find, but try the aircraft parts places, as they have boots of many sizes.

I may have to get one of those crimp tools. I've been trying to avoid paying $100 for one, but HF's tool is $70. Still a little pricey, but a bit better.

I can get away without the battery boot if the current one will fit the new cable. If I get or make a near exact replacement, the existing boot should work.

Thanks.

Well, duh. Why didn't I think of ebay? That's almost too easy. Still, I should have thought of it. I used ebay to do my last bike repair. Have you (or anybody else) ordered from this seller (sun_motorcycles)? They're in the UK. I've never bought anything from an overseas ebay seller.

Thanks.

I have the cables, now. However, my KZ isn't running yet, so the cables aren't really being used yet. But they look good. The terminals are not hermetically sealed, but they have heat shrink on the ends, which is more than the factory cables had. They bolted right up. The length looks right. The cable thickness looks the same as OEM. And the pigtails that supply power to the bike have the right connectors on them. The cables were drop in replacements. No fiddling, tweaking, or cutting required. The only thing I did was to polish off the terminals, and coat them with dielectric grease. I'll try to remember to give another update when I get it running.
