swap from mech. to elec. tacho
02 Sep 2013 19:21
odd subject, i know, BUT, just purchased an almost new ZR7 motor that should be a straight fit in my KZ750. not that my bike's motor is bad by any means (just a bit noisy primary chain), but this one has only a couple thousand miles and was hard to pass...
only little problem is that early KZ750s had mechanical drive tachos whereas the zr7 was running electronic.
as i would love to keep the very original look of the bike, am trying to find an electric tacho that could be a straight swap from some other Kawi model.
will be running the ign. box off the zr7, hence will have a tacho signal wire available
pics are of the kind of tacho currently on my bike as a reference
any ideas?
cheers

ok, good to know! 750 only or also 1100? any specific year?
never had any problems with the stock kz750e CDI but in any case, the ZR7 ign rotor will not fit a kz750 crank end, different mounting system, so not really easy. im sapping the entire motor so no probs
