Just bought an 80 G1 for $500 and want to start it. The clutch was zip tied so the previous owner could move it and never took it off so thats a problem in it self but what I really need is a little insight on how to get this bike started without frying the electronics. What should be disconnected before trying to start it and if I cant get it started with the injection is it worth fixing? Thanks for any info

They tied the clutch lever back to start the bike. There is a safety switch there. Don't turn the key on with no fuel in the tank.

Buy a New battery. Clean the fuel tank, petcock, fuel pump check valve. New Fuel Filter. I'd remove the Injectors and send out for service, or at least put into an Ultrasonic Cleaner.
New Plugs, New plug wires, Fresh oil and filter. Pull the right CD size cover off of the Ignition and check the Advancer, probably pull and clean it, lube. Depending on how it was stored, you may be in for some electrical cleaning. It might need a small amount of oil in each cylinder to help lube them, seal them etc.
Got any pictures?

Still got the stock FI system? The pump usually pressurizes to 33 PSI at idle, and goes to 35 PSI as soon as the airflow flap moves in the air filter box area. Later versions(1982) had a true Throttle Position Sensor(TPS) that used a carbon, variable resistor. www.redlinecycle.com sometimes has parts for the G models.
