Smaller than stock battery was created by Koze
Wondering if you can use a smaller battery than stock if you delete a lot of the components ie; blinkers, horn, etc. Bike in question is a 79 KZ 650

The blinkers & horn aren't what drive the size of the battery, so eliminating them won't have an effect (after all, they are rarely in use), but removing them will very likely make your bike illegal and certainly less safe. You can switch to LED bulbs for the blinkers to reduce the power load, but be sure to replace the turn signal relay with an electronic type.
If you want a smaller lighter battery you may want to do some research into newer battery technology; some are really lightweight. Just be sure to get one that is rated the same as your stock battery. Here are a couple ideas:

No. The worst case load for any battery is cranking the starter motor. You can take off accessories but the starter load doesn't change.Koze wrote: Wondering if you can use a smaller battery than stock if you delete a lot of the components ie; blinkers, horn, etc. Bike in question is a 79 KZ 650
