electronic ignition with clutch safety? was created by asevans
78 z1r.
it has the clutch safety starter switch.
i followed the directions and no problem.
there is a black wire that comes from the starter relay that plugs into the coil and ignition. couldnt figure out where the clutch switch plugs into. it shows on wiring diagram that it goes into black wire to starter relay. well its all taken up with new electronic ignition.
Is all i have to do is get a different connector to connect this black wire with ignition and coil wires?
anybody else put in an electronic ignition with clutch safety?
thanx
Aaron

The clutch switch is for the starter circuit. The ignition is not affected by the clutch switch.
Power for the ignition comes from the kill switch. The power for the starter solenoid starts from the kill switch, to the start button, through the clutch switch, then to the solenoid. You can just connect the two clutch switch wires together to bypass that safety.
Later models did have a safety kill for the ignition, but that was based on the kickstand switch and neutral switch.
