Bottom of the ignition lock blew

Hi all,

I was trying to start my kz1100, when I noticed the oil/neutral light would not kick on. I could move the key back and forth, but no love.

SO I took out the headlight and noticed under the key mechanism a bunch of wires were sticking out.

Looks like the bottom of the lock ignition mechanism fell out. I have all the parts and was able to get her turning by putting the plastic and little brass pieces in their place.

Any idea how to secure the lock/ignition/cable/connector back?

I believe it just snaps together, there are Tabs on the black plastic. If you remove the main part of the switch, 2 allen bolts, you should see the Plastic Tabs. If they are broken. You might be able to epoxy it, and use it till a new switch arrives.

Seriously? clips? that's all that holds it??? Glad it didn't happen while I was on the road.

So what is the part called so I can order a replacement.

Also, I thought I was lucky and had all the internal parts, but it looks like one of the springs is missing.

Any idea where I can get a replacement?

That is the hard to find one. Part #27005-5019. There are of course lots of places that List the part, but I doubt they have it. NLA from Kawasaki. So to find a New one might be hard. Ebay currently doesn't show one, but one could show up there as New Old Stock/ NOS.
Ask the Guy's at z1enterprises to see if they know a supplier, or another switch that might work in its place.

Well, since the electronics and lock is good, and it's only the selector and plastic tabs that's bad, is there any NOS locks I could use from a different model and just replace the broken parts with?
