extra cable near battery 76 kz900

Hey all, I had a quick question. When i was replacing my battery in my 76 kz900 i noticed an extra cable that wasn't attached to anything. it resembles the negative battery cable but smaller and silver instead of copper. does anyone know what it is for? thanks.

Maybe someone put a extra ground wire on it to the frame. Is the other end just hanging ?

Yeah, it is just hanging there. I'm also not sure what the other end is attached to. Ive recently encountered electrical problems as well, with the battery discharging during a ride. Thanks for the response.
