Simple Question, please identify wire in picture!

Can anybody tell me what this wire is for? Where is it supposed to connect? Negative battery post? What is it connected to?

Connect it to the frame. Ground wire.

Isn't that the wire that bolts to the rear engine case mount in behind the rear brake switch?
