Early Z1 Right Handlebar Controls

Question for the early Z1 gurus - I see in the factory manual that the throttle had a friction adjuster on the underside of the right hand controls. My bike (one of the first 100) has been restored with new repop controls but I'd like to go back to stock. When did they delete the throttle friction feature?
