The Battery Tender Plus (~$50) is temperature compensated, while I believe the Junior is not. The temperature compensation might help to prolong battery life in very hot or cold temperatures. However, given the short life/low quality of the motorcycle batteries I've owned, I don't think it would make a difference.
Using the Junior has allowed me to avoid replacing my aging battery, which was not starting the bike very well. I started using it when I noticed the battery was getting weak, and now the bike starts great. It may also be that my charging system isn't 100%. But either way, the battery tender is making it work.

 Okay here is my nightmare with Deltran Battery tender pluses....... I had a real old one which the transformer burnt out....... so I thought I would replace it with the same unit :pinch: I purchased 3 of the Battery Tender pluses from chaparral....all have their 10 year (so called) warranty  the first one lasted about 12 months then would NOT go to float mode and torched a relatively new battery.burnt it up, cooked it, toast.... sooooo i opened the second and put it to another new battery(cooked battery replacement).
it worked a little over a month and would not go back into float mode........ :pinch: spotted this quickly and removed the evil charger before it could do damage...... opened the 3rd and it worked a little over 2 weeks..same deal won't return to float....battery is fully charged....tested with a hydrometer.....no bad cells. yada, yada, yada....... ...... my schumacher maintainers and craftsman maintainers have worked flawlessly.
I contacted Deltran by phone ......their tech could not understand the issue......which is b.s. as I found more people having(cooked batteries) the same problem via the internet :pinch: :pinch: If I send them back to deltran they will check them out and if no problem is found ,I will be charged $10 each, service fee plus shipping both ways
I did some more digging and found that Deltran doe not repair them they REPLACE them with new units......some so called repair.
So I will be sending three of these high priced trash chargers back. when I get the replacements I will put them on E bay and recoup my money for this junk  .lol they will be unused

I brought a couple of car batteries back from the dead with this charger  ....... people discard /replace batteries that are still usable ......yes, if the battery is too far gone it can't be brought back to 100 % charge...... we as consumers are being scammed , buying tenders and such as they do not de-sulfate the battery plates......sulfation of the plates is the # 1 killer of lead acid batteries :S
after using the xtreme charger my hayabusa turbo's battery spins the engine like the spark plugs are missing.....
before I bought the xtreme charger my 4 year old Bandit 1200 S battery (agm) seemed like it was going away even though I use a maintainer religiously  I got the dreaded solenoid click :S ......SSSSSSSSSSSo i got my 1st extreme charger and hooked it to the bandit. the battery had 25% charge showing on the xtreme charger....... it steadily got higher, 50%, then after 3 days of being connected 75%.
after about a week 100% charge. at first, it did only hold the 100% for a couple of days ,then drop to 75%.
needless to say I left the battery hooked to the charger "full time" and after a couple of weeks charging it's holding the 100% charge .....the battery now spins the engine like the plugs are missing....I checked the battery on my pricey small engine battery load tester and now the battery tests as "GOOD".
I'm sold on these and have since bought 2 more....
as costly as batteries are now , my xtreme charger has more than paid for itself......extending my batteries life.
