I'm having an electrical problem that I can't figure out. 1983 KZ 750 - Bike has been running well all spring. Took battery out to charge as it was a little drained. Put it back after giving it a full charge and now nothing. No indicator lights when I turn the key. Checked fuses (glass tube style) with a multimeter and they all seem to be fine. Am I missing a set of fuses somewhere? Any suggestions on where to check next? All connections look clean and I replaced exactly as it was before I took battery out.
Also trying to find someone with a little know-how in the area of Indianapolis that would be willing to give me a few pointers on some electrical work as it's a little outside my range of knowledge.

You say you checked the fuses. With a Meter? Voltage getting across the Main Fuse? This is the most likely culprit, bad fuse. You need to check it for battery power on both sides, or just simply replace it. They can look good but the end cap actually will come disconnected from the heat. Clean the fuse clips and make sure their tight for a good connection.

Would also check integrity of the ground connection where the negative battery cable attaches to rear of engine.

On my bike when I still had glass fuses, even a brand new fuse sometimes wouldn't work. If I'd wiggle the main fuse with the key on it would finally make contact and come on. I lightly sanded the contact points where the fuse snaps in and that helped. Ultimately I ended up wiring in a blade style fuse box. That 100% ended all my electrical problems. I highly recommend that modification. I thought it would be difficult but I did it in about 40 minutes. I have zero electrical training or experience. I haven't had a single fuse related issue since. I think somebody has a write-up that I looked at when I did it. I'll try to find it for you.
