Personally, I wouldn't. Can't see any advantage to points except ease of replacement if your Ignition quit. Electronic is on everything, and I mean everything now. Why turn back the clock?

I've always installed my own points since my bike was new and they work just fine. I would not switch to Maxi-dwell because some of the claims in their ad are bogus (i.e. "Stock points bounce at 2,000 rpm"; "All electronic ignitions retard at least 1 degree for every 1,000 rpm the engine turns. This Maxi-Dwell does not retard at all"; etc.). Also, is Maxi-Dwell still in business? I don't think they are, so if their products really offer an advantage why did the company fold - there are still tons of vintage bikes out there using points. If I was going to switch to a different ignition system I would go to electronic ignition - probably using a setup off a later year Kawasaki rather than Dyna as the Kawasaki ignitions reportedly draw less current. i worked on bikes that used the "maxi-dwell" points in the 70's before the optical martek, and magnetic boyer, dyna's came along . they will turn a little more rpm than stock before bouncing, but who cares .. Dyna is the way to go......Maxi-Dwell , :pinch: A little better than stock.... waste of money IMO....
