dyna single ignition booster, why do I want one?

I saw the dyna single ignition booster on the z1 website and am curious while having no intent on buying one at this time.
does it replace the current module/ignitor?
do I need 2(single)?

Do you mean this one?

You use only one for a twin, two for a 4 cylinder bike. It means the points no longer wear because they carry very little current. The spark voltage is also increased.
