Dyna S Ignition was created by Landfair
Hey I had heard this was a must have for these kz bikes to do away with the points. Is any electronic ignition system good for it or is the dyna specifically a must have? Any input is greatly appreciated and if you have one fairly cheap let me know.

I am Dyna-S 100% and wouldnt run points. I like set the timming and forget of the Dyna-S with no maintance.

I really cant speak of points on a KZ as my bike was purchased with a Dyna-S. 650ed is a good source to ask about points. He runs them with good results and likes them.

There are good a bad things with both a Points ign and Dyna-S ign.

The Dyna-S can cost some money. You need 3.0 ohm coils to go with the Electronic module.

I would listen to the forum feedback and make your own call.

Do not use the supplied "Splice" that comes with the Dyna S for the power, as it's not a very good electrical connection, instead, use solder and heatshrink tubing for a water resistant joint.

You shouldnt use oem coils. But you can run other than 3 ohm i believe. Theres diffrent brand coils you can run, accel, dyna and theres another but cant think of it.

If your original coils are for points, and the coils are good, then they will work fine with the Dyna S.

If your original coils are for the Kawasaki electronic ignition, then you will need new 3-ohm, or higher, coils.

If your bike came with electronic ignition from the factory, that is a better system than the DYna S when working properly.

You should put your bike in your signature so we know what you have.

If you remove the right side engine cover(it's about CD in size), this is where the ignition points would be, on later bikes, the pulsing(pick up coils) were there for the electronic igniton and mechanical ignition advancer. If posible, take some pictures of what you've got.
