Electrical Problem ****SOLVED****

I put bike in gear a rocked it back and forth....the lights came on and all worked and acted normal....

So hit the start button and it cranked for 1 sec and stopped cranking and all lights went dead???

Checked for pinched wires....none.

Bad starter???

That wouldn't explain lights going out though,load it up in the truck and start heading for Nebraska.
Drive slow so maybe this freaking snow we're getting might be gone when you get here! :woohoo:

Well after chasing my tail around for hours and taking half of bike apart.... :sick:

I found nothing wrong other that when bike is in gear a pushed the lights go on and off like a shorted wire somewhere?

I have found nothing wrong on the outside with neutral or oil pressure switch or short in wire....so Im thinking a that a wire has started to become bare and is rubbing on/inside stator cover. I replaced this wire harness when I rebuilt the bike. It was a long harness and wraped around inside abit. Could be causing the problem.

Dyna-s checked out ok so the only other item that could cause a short if engine is turning would be in startor area.

Did you check starter yet?

Possibly a wire broken inside the insulation, so it's making and breaking the conductor when the handlebars are turned? Also check where the wires are routed around the steering head, as this area has a lot of repeat movement. Look inside the right handlebar switch pod too, as the older bikes are starting to show signs of the solder joints failing.

The run/stop,& start switch are there, and any of those may be coming apart at the solder joints.

Do a load test on your Battery. Battery will show 12 plus volts but not handle the amperage required I fought a battery for a couple of moths that showed 12.8 volts until I hit the button

same thing no lights no nothing. replaced battery 2 years later no probs

Thanks man DOing OK foot wont heal keeps poppin open (where they cut it) but its my fault I wont stay off of it.

I struggled even changed regulaters over that stupid battery testing good just happin to be at my buddy's shop he suggested load testing and it failed. It was a Buddy deal on a supposed new battery wasnt much of a deal in retrospect I enbded up with a Xtreme AGM From Batteries Plus expensive but well worth it

Problem Solved....Frayed Wire in stator....Just my luck...... :pinch:
