Electrical Problem ****SOLVED****
10 Mar 2013 14:01 - 10 Mar 2013 21:25
Bike was fine all winter. Tail light worked, turn signals worked, brake lights and it cranked great. Went though and improved wiring and trouble shooted it ready for good weather.
Went to start bike today and it started and I let it idle for a few and it quit running.
I went to restart bike and noticed that the headlight didnt come on with key? I hit start button and it didnt crank?
I checked the fuses and they were all good not blown....I then checked the battery ground, white ign wires and just went over wiring harness without finding fault.
So I have no power comming back to controls....no headlight, turn sigs, brake lights, horn...When I turn key on the neutral light is bright....I hear the relay for coils click on....Im thinking ignition switch first then starter relay? What do you guys think.
Thanks, Spencer

What else did you do to wiring besides that cursed coil mod?

Power to starter solenoid? Do you have a clutch lever/starter lock out switch?
Try bumping across the contacts on solenoid, just make sure its in neutral first!

No lock out on clutch
I have power comming into ign switch through 2 wires
When ign switch is turned on I have power going out of ign switch to all wires.
When the ign switch is turned on. The two out of three connections to the head light are showing power but light dosent work. I tried the old one that worked before changing and it didnt work...I havent cked the volts/amps yet....will do that.
I hooked up my batt charger and hit the boost and didnt help.
I have 12.25 volts at the ign switch
I have 11.75 volts at the headlight pigtail but light wont work.
I am confused????

Don't use the boost on your charger with a motorcycle battery, check actual voltage to starter solenoid.

ckd the batt only at 12.70
ckd 20amp fuse 12.70
ckd 2 hot wires going to ign switch and all comming from ign switch in on position.....11.3 to 12.0 no dead wire from ign.

Sounds like you have a flat solenoid, you could jump between the 2 big cables battery/starter just to make sure though.
