Issue... was created by lttletodd
I got my kz 1000 in pieces. Its a 1977 and im redoing it from frame up. Im doing electrical right now and
i noticed on my fuse box(piece of metal with about 4 or 5 plugs in it) that there isnt anything plugged into blue electrical plug. What goes there, the cdi box? and if not where does that baby go? Now what i say might not make sense because ive worked about 70 hours so far this week. So i apologize in advance for anything that might not make a whole lot of sense so just bare with me. Lol can i have some pictures of a fuse box and anything else that will help me on my journy? Lol

Oh god... why are there extra parts left over....

If you are trying to redo the bike without using a Kawasaki Service Manual you are fighting a losing battle. They normally are available on eBay. Just be sure to get one for your exact year/model as there are differences. The manuals are worth their weight in psychiatry fees. Ed

Some of the bigger 4's had provisions for aux circuits, providing power for heated grips or vests. It should be marked on the wiring diagram.

Could remove the "points cover" and see what's underneath.

May find a stock "points" ignition.
Or might find a Dyna-S aftermarket electronic ignition system has been installed to replace the stock points system.
Or might find some other type ignition system besides Dyna-S that's been installed to replace the stock points system.
Or might find a big ol' blank space.

Take a look, and let us know what's underneath the "points cover."

Good Fortune! :)

The Kawasaki supplied Electronic Ignition is not a CDI as some people think, the box actually gives the igntion coils their grounds, firing the sparkplugs when the magnetic fields in the coils collapse.
