On the kz1000g fuel injected bike does the fuel pump operate when the key is turned on or the started button engaged. Thanks for any help.

Those are so rare in the USA, that you'll probably have to wait a little bit until someone with experience with them can reply, or look at a wiring diagram if your techy enough to read it properly and visualize electrical flow.

Remember, don't work on your bike so much you never ride it.

On my 1982 GPz 1100 B2, the fuel pump will run as soon as the ignition key is turned on. I'd look at the fuel pump relay, and related electrical connections for corrosion.

yea, fuel pumps should start running as soon as ignition is on. It might shut off once it's built pressure though, and then start going again once you actually start the bike and start using fuel, depending on how they regulate pressure on them.
