Ignition Switch Relocate was created by candyskateboards
I recently recovered my stolen 81 Yamaha Sr250. The little jerks stole it by jamming a screw driver in the ignition. With the excessive force they used to steal the bike, the mounting posts have snapped off and is held on by electrical tape for now. I've got it running again but seems to short out when the switch is bumped and ungrounding it(well that's my guess). It is electric start only. My roommate has a Harley Davidson switch that he gave me and I would like to use that and relocate the ignition to somewhere a little more inconspicuous. I'm not entirely sure if it will work because the OEM unit has a strange little box on it and I don't know what's in it, as I have yet to take it off the bike but here is a picture for reference.

I plan to use some sheet metal or aluminum from around the street signs we have in our yard to make some brackets. So I was wondering will this work and what problems may I run into?
