Is it a shift light for cars (with distributors)?

If so, then it will light up at double the RPMs if you only use one coil wire.

You need a circuit to combine the two coil signals, or set the shift light for 2-cylinder motor (if that's an option).

Incidently, why do you want a shift light at 3k rpm?

I am using the MSD 9852 on my bike and if my memory is correct, the shift light sees the "lost spark" ignition system on a Kawasaki inline-four as a two cylinder. So you have to cut 3 wires. It has been a while since I installed it but here are the instructions if it helps.

Also, if you are using an air shifter or something that interrupts the ground to the coils, DO NOT connect the light to +12volt at the coil like the instructions show. If you do, every time you shift, the light will "self test" again and give you a false flash. Just connect it where the +12volt supply won't be interrupted.

No eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configurationTry this.....this will give you a signal from each coil....it is for a dual coil setup you have....I set my tach at 4-cyc but its a auto meter not msd.

Setting the tach to 2cyc wont work....you still have to provide the tach with a correct 2 coil signal, untill you do that you will have problems.

I am pretty sure it will work. I have been running mine as a two cylinder with the signal from just one coil since 1994. Eighteen years without a problem. ;)

Let me give you another little tip. Toss the 12 volt incandescent bulb and get a LED bulb. The bulb that comes with the light is cheap and fragile and you will react quicker to the LED bulb. Also set your pill @ 200rpm below where you want to shift at. That gives you a chance to react and not go over your set rpm.

Don't tell anyone about these tips O.K.? I wouldn't want everyone to find out about these things.
