Monitoring Charging volts was created by wcysl
I have looked for posts regarding this and have found nothing.
But I have been thinking of mounting a volt meter on my bike to see what the charging system is doing while driving.
I also want to buy something that I can take from easily from one bike to another.
This is what I came up with..
Mount a 12 volt power outlet, wire directly to the battery (Fused) connection.
This >>> 12v outlet

Or something like it? Buy one for each of my bikes.
Then head to the RV store and buy this>>> Volt Meter
Ok is there an easier way? Remember it has to be able to switch bikes.
Has anyone done anything like this?
With the plug-in style meter I have in the link, maybe I can hide the outlet and it would not have to be on the handlebars?
Thoughts? And thanks in advance!

Ahh the sound of a socket wrench late at night. haha..

Well I want to be able to see what the system is doing will riding.
I just wondered if anyone has done something like this?
I figure I will see a voltage miss through the rpm's if any? Or any odd voltage drop may be noticed?

I'd go with something like this. sell.lulusoso.com/selling-leads/826274/m...eter-waterproof.html Use a simple quick connect, dont use a cigarette lighter plug, thats just gaudy. :) For 5- 6 dollars each, I would get one for each bike...waterproof also.

Remember, don't work on your bike so much you never ride it.

OldSchool,
I agree! I would like to have something that does not jump out at you.
But I need something that would not ship direct from China.
I will keep looking. Something small, but easy to read.

Yup, good questions and a good idea. I had a GPS that had a volt meter in it. It was helpful when running electric riding gear.
KZs aren't strong chargers, especially at idle, so keep the idle at least 1250 RPM.

I would run something like the quick disconnect from a battery tender and a digital volt meter. Here is a couple links.

Cut it and terminate one end like this for the battery terminals, or just buy two of these and use one for the volt meter end without the fuse. Then use it with a battery tender to keep your battery up to snuff when your bikes in the garage.

You might can find something smaller and less money. It was the first thing that popped up. It says USA on it.
