Adding aux power was created by Topper
So I bought a BikeMaster 12V cig lighter/aux power thingy. It didn't come with any instructions. I hooked it up with an inline fuse coming directly off the positive battery terminal, and ran the other wire directly to the negative battery terminal.

Plugged my car charger and phone in and I got nothing.

What am I missing here? It seems like this should be pretty straight forward. In the car you plug them into the cig lighter and the charger lights up and the phone indicates it's charging.

Do I need something more than just a direct connect to the battery?

Thanks.

Correct, that should work. Check your connections, use a meter to see if 12v is on the center pin of the socket, and ground on the outside spade terminal.

Is there a fuse in the holder?

Yes. Though that's exactly the kind of thing I'd do.

I went out with the multimeter and I've got 12.5v at the battery terminals, my bullet connectors and inside the cig lighter connector.

So I took my car charger adapter back to my car and plugged it in. Found the problem. The adapter itself is broken. It was working yesterday when I took it out of the car!

Oh well. That's an easy problem to solve.

Thanks for the help guys. I figured this had to be an easy hook up, but was afraid I was missing something.

the Adapter will also have a fuse inside, most likely. So look there first.

That's a great suggestion. My adapter doesn't screw apart like that, but maybe if I crack the case open I'll find a fuse in there. Can't break what's already broken.
