Think there should be one of these for problems that we find because of idiots who have come before us and tried to fix stuff the wrong way... LETS HEAR 'EM

Tach was not working so looked for the problem...

Some idiot made the negative terminal wire ground wires on my recent project (1983 KZ750 LTD) out of lamp cord...

LAMP CORD?

It worked but DAMN.

A much better cable for any of the high current battery connections will be 6 AWG (American Wire Gauge) welding cable. It comes in two colors,RED and BLACK. Some welding supply stores can also crimp/swage the correct terminal ends for you, if not, try places that sell car batteries or shops that work on electric forklifts.

Make sure the bolt connections are free of paint or corrosion for maximum current transfer, otherwise the ground will seek any of the smaller Black with Yellow stripe wires, making them overheat & smoke.

I know what you mean, I've seen bikes wired with the electrician's "Wire Nuts", or just wires twisted together & covered with the black, sticky tape.
