Are points for a Kz 1000 still available at auto part stores or do I need to get them at a bike shop or on line?

Yeah I know, but that's all I need right now and they probably cost as much as the shipping.
OK they're not that cheap but I see that they are the same as what goes on a GS750
and we have a Suzuki shop in town, we'll see.

Couldn't find my points file today so I used emery cloth and it worked all right but I still have a little pit in the middle of these 25 year old ones and I figure that it's time.
But yes I am a cheap bastard too

Wait a minute , z1kzonly you say to gap them at .015-.020
The shop manual says .3 -.4 mm which is .0118 - .0157 in.
I set them a little loose with a .330 mm or .013 in. and I'm getting a little pinging at low to medium rpm. when I push it.
I need to find my file. :side:
I remember that trick with the match book

First, dress the contacts, set the gap, and clean the contacts.
Then adjust the timing.
Be certain of the F mark. Don't use the T letter or the T mark , or the F letter.
Good Fortune!

Thanks guys, Z1E still is the most reasonable place for points but I decided to work on cleaning up the ones I've got.
So I went back to the 400 sand paper folding over so I worked on both surfaces at one time and let the pressure from the spring hold it closed on the paper while i moved it around in kind of a circular motion .
Set the gap at .019 cleaned them off with acetone and checked the timing ( still good )
She's running fine.
I think the pinging was from 87 octane on a hot day by mistake. :pinch:
Got 89 in there now ,no more pinging
