No eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configurationI am replacing my OEM brake light with an aftermarket that has two cat eye lights.

I have the brake light mounted and the new light has 6 wires, 3 for each light but the OEM wiring has 3 wires, black stripe, red, and blue. I have spliced new wires so each color is two into 1 (black, red, yellow). When hooked up, black to black, red to red, yellow to blue, both brake lights shine bright. When the brake is applied, both brake lights dim. Any idea what the problem is?

Any suggestions appreciated.

You might need to get a multimeter to figure out the wiring, as most after market manufacturers don't usually use a standard wire color for different functions.

Could test rear light functions using these connections, which guesses each new rear light is black-ground, yellow-tail, and red-brake:

You've got them wired backwards. The tail light circuit (red wire) is lighting up both the brake light and tail light filaments in your bulbs and when the brake light circuit (blue wire) is applied it is bucking the taillight circuit at the point where the two filaments are joined. This causes the brake light filament to go out yet the taillight filament stays on all the time.
Look at the diagrams, the top one is what you want, the bottom one is what you got which is wrong.

Diamondskyblue1000, Wow, thanks, this works perfectly and the fuse did not blow even when I run the turn signals and brake light at the same time. For awhile there I was afraid I would not be able to brake while turning!!!

Many thanks!!!
