everything

i thought you knew?

i am a free man...unlike you....

i have no extras...and will keep nothing

the tires will get tossed or given away here

the shocks will be amy's first new sale on ebay

where i got a dyna s used for under 70 and coils once for under a 100 new

now back to the elec deal.....what does it matter...he can do what he wants for sure...but the kawi stock set up is more parts to work out,...the dyna is install ,time ,and swap coils....you only need to make or use the plug wires to match your bike and the coils need a few wires and connectors to mate to the harness..auto store stuff or clip the old ones and mount em.....

i dont doubt that some dynas have turded but in general they are the best for these old kawis.....90% of bikes have em...or need em just about

Either of them would be pretty much plug/play,dyna might be a little more work.
I figured you would have restocked by now, everytime I sell or give something away I find 5 more things to put back in its place! :woohoo:
Had to help 1 of my plumbing buddies with a stop box replacement this afternoon, hes not as experianced with the utility work side of the trade.
Anyway after we got it done he was helping me put some stuff back in my van when he mentioned he needed some shelves for his van,so I gave him a really nice complete set somebody gave me a couple weeks ago out of he was using for carpet/drywall so he didnt need them.
These things just fall out of the sky without me even looking,so now hes got shelves and Ive got more room for more stuff!

Any of you cats heard of adding a regulator to help your coils deliver more spark?

The older bikes see to drop in power with age due to the old wiring, loss thru the kill switch and other reasons. This low voltage is often the cause of plugs fouling and other things that are misdiagnosed as carb issues.

I will post the link.

Went thru everything and the voltage is still around 10.75v or waaaay too low. Maybe gained .25 of a volt after cleaning up all the connections (my kill switch assy is new so no problems there) I have to attribute it to simple lack of conductivity due to 34 year old wiring and connectors. I'm not an electrical engineer but some pretty smart people have told me this just happens.

Changing over to CDI will not fix this issue. I have a friend with a points-equipped 1000 LTD and the move to CDI box and coils did not resolve his issues. Points are not that bad a set up and you can still get a new baseplate, points and condensor for $50 and keep the bike period correct (not that I'm a 100% purist nut)

My bike is a classic example of low voltage to the plugs... runs fine for a while and at high RPM but fouls the plugs at lower speeds. Carbs are not the culprit.

This article came to me from one of Canada's top Vintage Kawi guys and he has used this low-dough (and not unttractive) fix by Wiredgeorge from Texas and swears by it.

Sooty plugs? Getting full power to your coils

You can still get the pickup plate from Kawasaki. They were used for many years on the Police bikes.

You can make the igniter box for dirt cheap.

You will want new coils, 2.2 ohm, or possibly 3.0 ohm.

I just did Wiredgeorge's fix (see the link above) and the bike works beautifully!

Cost about $20 in parts and my coils now deliver battery voltage.

It's an ingenious fix.
