Pitted points was created by 1960vw
Just trying to pick your brains as to what would cause heavy pitting on my points on my KZ305 after only 2500 miles on them. I replaced them and every thing running good now. Timing was advanced just a bit if that helps. Thanks !!!

Condenser, lack of a resistor, point gap to little, dirty contacts, ie finger prints, can all lead to premature failure.
I suppose in this day of Chinese everything, poor metal quality would also be suspect.
Cleaning the contacts after setting the gap/ dwell is a Very good practice. Use a clean piece of stiff white paper, such as a new business card, away from any Ink.

As Motor Head said, bad condenser(s) can cause this. Also, if the dwell was not set properly it may have contributed to the pitting. Ed
