Yuasa YTX20L-BS or equiv. Last battery I bought was a Motobatt sealed maintenence free and it's worked fine. For sure don't get the old water fill battery.

321,000 miles on KZ's that I can remember. Not going to see any more.

Thank you all.
Why not a standard wet cell?

For a regular wet cell motorcycle battery(one you can add distilled water to) it should be checked for proper fluid level(I do mine every oil change). To check it, it must be removed from the bike as the line levels are hard to see.

The "Dry Cell" batteries are not filled with fluid, making them lighter, but since the technology is new, no one has said with any certainty how well it works. There are AGM batteries that once the fluid is installed, and the caps pressed in place, they are supposedly maintenance free.

The KZ1000 is notorious for overcharging the battery. At least on the ST battery is easy to get to. If you ride the high miles, battery will need to be filled every day. Major pain in the ass. Well not that hard really, but still. Get sealed and no need to ever look at the piece of crap. To me water fill battery is like points ignition vs electronic or carbs vs fuel injection. Might as well get a good sealed battery and save the work if you want to ride. For small mile commute or weekend short rides regular water fill will work, but for an extra $30 or whatever which is near zero really no need to ever fill water again. I like the never fill thing myself. :)

The ST uses a big battery and not that common of size so price is up there.
