How to hot wire tail light

Due to wiring deterioration I have been cleaning the wiring up and in doing so I Installed toggle switches for the headlight on and off and high and low beam.
All electrics work except for one issue, I cannot work out why the tail and parking light are not working.
I have traced the red wire back from the tail light socket to the ignition switch and have continuity. What am I missing here?
Is there a method where I can wire up the tail light to be on when ignition is on?

Measure for voltage on TL1 (ignition switch, no ~ 12Vdc then there's your problem....
If voltage present, measure TL2, if missing Vdc then ignition switch crapped.
If Voltage present then rear bulb holder/open conductor etc...

I am wondering would the removal of the headlight wires( Brown, Bl/W, Br/W) from the RH switch assembly to a separate toggle switch have any bearing on the problem? Or is the tail light a separate circuit entirely.
This wiring replacements and harness repairs has been an enjoyable challenge for me staring from a position of knowing stuff all about electrics. Learnt a lot along the way, but obviously not enough. Have the bike up and running well with the tail light the last piece of the puzzle to be solved.
Cheers

The tail light could be wired into any connector having switched positive voltage, such as an accessory connector (or possibly the brown wire), which should provide voltage to the tail light whenever the ignition switch is turned ON.peterg wrote: Can the forum suggest a way to hot-wire the tail light on my KZ 650B 1977... I don't know about the "parking" light connection from the ignition switch, other than studying the stock wiring diagram (which may show the ignition switch connections for the parking light).
