1 and 4 cold was created by 5150BOT
Hey Gents got everything back together took it for a test spin and it seemed as it warmed up it started running crappy to the point that I thought it was gonna croke.. Ok when I got the bike it seemed to run ok except when you got on it... it seemed to sputter and cut out I figured carbs whatever,,, but now
Im all confused about :S is 1st off the primary wires going to the coils I have a clymers manual showing me at the coils its blue yellow black and red, but at my coils I have red and black for left side and red and green for the right side this is the way I mark it before I took it apart
2nd is would half a coil die out allowing 1 and 4 to be cold?

The two coils fire 1&4 and 2&3. If 1&4 are not firing then that coil is not working, no such thing as half a coil.

you can generally pick up a decent set of dyna coils on ebay 80-125.00 bucks with that said 150.00 will get a new set 40-60 for a stock set used of course. put up a wanted post and see what happens brian normally has about anything you need lol used
Dyna seems to be what most use price and quality Z1 enterprise has about anything you need

I asked because the same is not true for all KZ 4 cylinder engines. For example a KZ400-J 4 cylinder KZ is considerably different than a KZ1100. So, in order for folks to make a good recommendation they would need to know what year/model motorcycle you are trying to fix. You may want to add the info to your signature. ed

Figured I would post what the problem was first off I had a faulty multimeter which didnt help I swapped coils the problem followed that coil so it seemed like bad coil right? waiting for coils to arrive got a new meter thought I would play with it a bit grabbed the number 4 plug wire because it was the first thing and closest thing I looked at checked it, I didnt have any continuity I was like wth! touched probes worked tried wire didnt work I shoulda got a fluke the first time  So what was wrong was the 2 plug wires 1&4 were bad almost 2 inches in at the coil side I sliced parallel into em until I found good clean wire.
Thru on some old wires fom my rail and bingo so I ordered some from Z1
Anyone got some good valve setting advice/procedure Thanks again guys I will get some pictures soon in the process of moving so everythings a cluster atm
