1980 KZ 440 Starter parts? was created by cardinal
Hi there,
I took my starter apart and in the process broke one of the big seals. I can't seem to find a replacement on ebay, maybe it's that I don't know what I'm searching for. The seal is not just a round o-ring (although maybe one of those would work?) it has a square profile with a lip on one side.
Any suggestions on where to look for one of these?
Attaching photo, but it mostly shows
just how cruddy the inside of the starter was.

Starter part needed might be available through Kawasaki, for example, the large o'ring Part No. 92055-1086 is supposedly still available through Kawasaki dealerships.
Lots of good info on kawasaki.com, including parts diagrams, part names, part numbers, models sharing same part, availability, etc. Here's a link for help with navigating the site and finding information.

Thank you for the link. I'm sure it will come in handy in the coming months. It turns out that part # 92055-1086 is the one I needed. Did a quick search and found one on ebay for under $5 with shipping. I'll be getting it back together as soon as the part arrives and hopefully will be able to get the bike back on the road.
