kz650 c2 about every 30 miles my bike dies out and the points need to be adjusted. Any idea what can be causing this? I noticed that it doesn't have that brush tip that rubs on the shaft lobes(not sure if thats the correct term) could that be the problem ?

No. Could be a screw hole in the mount plate stripped out? If the screw clamps tight, points can't move.

Many points type ignitions do not use a Felt for a lubrication point. But they take grease at the rubbing block/ heel. No grease and they will wear out the hell. There are special grease types for this, Bosch Distributor Grease is what I've used for 30+ years. A new set of points may come with the grease in a small pill type capsule or small plastic bag.
The proper gap, is very important as it controls the Dwell, and effects timing.
