regulator/rectifier curiosity killed the kow

yesterday, i was out riding, all of a sudden my bike starts loosing power, pulled over battery was so dead lights wouldnt even come on, checked the fuse, so thought reg/rec or stator, but most likly the reg/rec, as i was pushing to a zone where i had service to call for help, i started wondering, could u hook your stator directly to the battery in case of emergency,
or to the coils, didnt sound like a gd idea know it keeps voltage at 14, and changes ac to dc.
but was curious

No.... Do not terminate Vac to battery....
You would fry just about everything else electrical on the bike as well....

Rectifier convert Vac to Vdc (unregulated) meaning un-regulated Vdc will rise and fall with rpm....
Regulators will keep it at a fairly constant voltage (13 - 14.5Vdc).

Maybe this we will help... for better undertsanding

If that is a 78 or 79 KZ650, and you are running a Dyna S ignition, that combination seems to drain batteries. If you search this site, you'll see many threads on that subject.

i had this motor n another frame last year, and when i bought the bike it wouldnt stay charged, after alot of research i can across ds-313021, which people were talking about running on there bikes, it worked fine last year, i fried it when the wire to the battery came undone and i didnt realize it till it was to late, when i went to look for the same part i noticed it just said regulator, not rectifier, but like i said i used the same part for months last year without problems, anyone had any experience with the specif reg, dont have alot of money to throw, this part is only $50, opposed to $100-$150,

No gauges, stock coils, led head, and taillight. With a 4cell li-po Race battery. Working fine for me but not using alot of power either
