LED flashers ? was created by mark1122
i installed 2 front led turn signals. they worked but flashed incorrectly with the stock flasher. i knew this would happen, so i was prepared. i ordered and received a Variable-Load Electronic LED Flasher from the local Napa store. once installed, the signals flashed correctly. i now have 2 front led's and 2 read incandescent signals. i will install the 2 rear led's soon.
ok, all is working fine. :)
next day i go for a ride and....... NO flashy, flashy. :(
should i assume that i got the wrong type of flasher, and it died?? can u fry a flasher somehow?
The flasher has 2 post, and a ground wire. I ran the ground to the bat -.
Opinions? Tests?

I got a flasher from superbrightleds.com when ordered my LED`s. this what I used it is a 2 prong

CF12ANL-01: LED Bulb Flasher Unit its 12.95.

One thing I goofed on was only ordering one. So my hazards will not flash until I get the second flasher.

You didn't do anything to he flasher yo can return it to the parts store. Its an amperage draw issue. The incandescent bulbs drawn more power that's why you have to use one made for LEDs. Get two one for flashers and one for blinkers. If you want the flashers to work.

Check the current rating on the solid state flasher: I think each incandescent pulls about 1.6A, LEDs draw a lot less.

Flashers are available that will accommodate LED's and incandescent bulbs, or any combination up to 10 amps, plus they come with a rubber mount that fits on the existing mounting tab. Look at www.cwswiring.com - also get a discount for buying 2 :woohoo:

I replaced the new flasher with the old 1 and the signals work again. I suppose this means the new flasher is toast.
The new flasher web site says

FEATURES & BENEFITS
• 60 to 120 flashes per minute
• Heavy-duty contacts; external wire provides ground
• Steady flash rate for all LED and incandescent loads
• Fits in round flasher socket
• Flash rate is electronically controlled
FMVSS:
J945, J590
Voltage Amp: 12V - 1A to 20A; 1 to 10 Lamp Load
