"push to cancel" signal controls

"push to cancel" signal controls was created by damarble
Has anyone upgraded their controls for this purpose? I dislike the slide switch and always overshoot the other way. The stab and forget method from newer bikes is a lot less distracting. I'm going to attempt it but wondering who has gone before me.

Install a self cancelling unit.

I didn't know there was such a thing. Sounds expensive.

You can build one using a 555 timer and MOSFET.
