Coil/wires/plugs.....
10 May 2012 00:13
My bike seems to be intermitently not firing on #2 and #4.
My only ” test” this far is running it and doing the ” spit test” on the pipes
I thought it was only #4, it gets fouled from oil from time to time, then I figured out it was both today.
The odd thing is sometimes #4 would run as hot as #1.
I check the the plugs, and checked that the cap wires were tight to the coil.

Inside the sparkplug caps, is a 5000 ohm resistor, it works to dampen any RFI when the plugs fire. They have been known to fail or become intermittent. They unscrew from the sparkplug wires and can be checked with a multimeter. When re-installing them(if they test good), cut about 1/4" off the end of the plug wires, and screw them in.
