Charging Problems and running issues was created by JFloyd
I have a 1980 kz1000 frame with a 197? 900cc motor. Dyna S ignition, k&n filters, 28mm stock carbs.
The bike was running when parked but due to the shifter fork breaking it sat for three years.
The forks have been replaced and motor back into bike and I have been trying to get it running.
The carbs have been cleaned out floats working (not over flowing and leaking gas). Slides moving
up and down easily. They have been bench sync'd. The voltage at the battery post reads between
11.5-12.9. The wiring has been hacked on and have a black wire and white wire coming from the
rectifier not connected to anything, where do those go? It runs for awhile then will start
missing at idle and then die and wont start with out being on a charger. Any ideas on charging
system would help!!
Another thing is when I finally thought I had it running good enough to ride it would just spit
and spudder through any throttle position. Any ideas? Ive ran out? Dont know much about
motorcycles but very mechanically inclined.
