Starter Solenoid just clicking !

Indeed BRUCE ....................... only toast tastes better......i hope its juat a faulty unit..........the bottom of the battery is slightly swollen & i have no idea why!!!

Have you checked the charging voltage? I believe these batteries are sensitive to overcharging, possibly causing the bulging of the case.

Do you mean the bike charging voltage? If so then yes, from idle to about 2400 rpm it didn't go over 14V, more like 13 to 13.8 or so, the reg/rect is also new & its now a combi unit, the KZ750B2 std system has a seperate reg & rect.

I should have added to the above post that I did monitor things quite closely when the bike was running. It's all new wiring & new electrical components so I wanted to make sure my wiring was good & everything was working as it should.


I brought a battery jump pack home from work, we use it to start cars when their battery is low, it started the bike in about 0.5 of a second & I didn't even need to use the choke, in fact I started it accidentally as I wanted to see if it would turn the motor over.


Jeez I hope Shorai customer services are good!!

Ok guys, i wanted to tell you all i just got off the phone from Shorai USA customer services, what a pleasant experience for a change!! I told them the absolute truth about everything as i find no advantage in telling lies to improve my situation, they are shipping another battery to me FOC & dont want me to go to the cost of shipping my faulty battery back to them. I had discussed upgrading to an 18AH battery with more CCA starting power as i kinda lost confidence in the battery type i purchased, the guy i was talking to has a battery the same as mine in a Buell V-Twin & it works perfectly so i stuck with what i have. With the 18AH battery i would have had to relocate at least the starter solenoid & to be honest i think the squeeze would be too tight. I asked what the situation would be if the new battery also didn't workl & he assured me they would stand over it & i could then upgrade if necessary. They will make sure the new battery i recieve will be in tip top condition.

So overall i'm very happy about the way they handled it.

It is a refereshing change indeed Matt(?). Don't forget im in Northern Ireland as well & there wasn't a peep about asking me for a shipping charge.


Oh, about the chinese made idea, you weren't too far wrong. On the bottom of the Shorai it says "Designed in Japan, Main component sourced in Japan, Assembled in China"

Nope, not Matt, more like Mike. As I suspected, more Chinese products with quality control problems.....
