Running Lights was created by HDDAN
I just bought a 1982 KZ1000CSR. It has been a long time since I have owned a Kawi. I do not remember if the front turn signals act as running lights in this year of motorcycle. Everything else on the machine works so I am thinking that the turn signals do not function as marker lioghts. Can someone answer my question please?

Grab the service manual for download from my signature, it will have the wiring diagram. Or here on the upper right corner of the KZR tool bar, go to "File Base" and get the diagram there. I believe you should have a dual filament bulb in each front stalk. 1 for the turn and one the running.

I'd open up the headlight housing, and check the connections, also the left handlebar switch pod. The older Kawasaki's have had reports of crumbled solder conections. If they look good, check the silver flasher relay cans as one is used for the 4 way flashers, and the other for turn signals. Auto parts stores carry these.

On mine, the front turn signals are running lights on the lower power filament.

Thanks to Motorhead's wiring diagram,I have found the ptoblem. with any 30 year old bike, you must expect that "Hackers" have worked on it. Someone snipped the two blue wires that power the running lights and substituted rear one filiment turn signals for the front two filiment turn signals. The fix, if I need them to pass inspection, will be to go aftermarket.

Feebay or one of the members here, KZ10006 maybe, would have a set of signals for your bike. Probably cheaper and possibly better than a Chinese set.
