When troubleshooting electrical probems, I make several copies of the wiring diagram(or break it down into sections & use a page protector with a grease pencil)marking off when I've been, so I'm not going back and forth on the same circuit.
A clean place to work that's well lit, along with continuity testers and a good multimeter are essentials for a good outcome. If frustrated, walk away for a while and let your mind puzzle it out.
I've sometimes had a solution come to me after a good night's sleep.....
