Do the IC ignitor boxes in the 81 and 82 GPZ series of bikes have anything to do with ignition timing?

Igniter works with pick-up coils to ground and un-ground the ignition coil primary windings.

Ignition coil discharge (spark) is triggered when the rotor cam point passes the pick-up coil.

Am uncertain whether ignition timing on the mentioned models is adjustable or permanently factory-set.

Good Fortune! :)

My understanding is on the 81 and 82 GPz's, the mechanical ignition advancer is how the ignition curve changes. On the 83 and later GPz's, the mechanical ignition advancer was removed, and the igniter changes the curve electronically.
