Anyone knowwhat this is/was was created by ramtough_63
some of you may know I never seem to be with my bike when I think of this stuff

1978 KZ100 A2
there is a rubber piece melted over it after cleaning it off its an off white rectangle i am assuming it could be the reserve lighting device but not sure

You have it correct, it is the brake light failure switch. The wiring diagram in "File Base" for your model shows it, with those wire colors.

My bikes reserve lighting devise has 6 wires going to a small connector. What you've got there, I believe, is a brake light failure module.

Brake Light Failure Indicator Switch. It is what causes your "Brake" idiot light to come on if there is an outage in the taillight bulb.

Thanks! I couldnt find it in my manual (old Clymer the 78 is a suppliment)

Gan it be bypassed without alot of drama?

I just unplugged mine. It wasn't compatible with my LED taillight. You just lose the warning light, but there is no other consequence as far as I know.
