Replacing the spark plug wires
26 May 2006 13:18
Just got on here and have to say great site. Just purchased 76 KZ900 and need to replace the plug wires. The coil are good but the wires are shot. Can anyone help me out how too remove the old wires from the coils or how they are mounted? Thanks

do your coils have the screw on compression nut at the coil?

I can't tell that is the issue. I tried too unscrew the wire from the coil thinking it was the screw on but the wire broke after turning. The wire was turning freeley till it broke. Just don't want to go digging without knowing how it comes together.

if they were screw on there would be a plastic nut that is over the wire at the coil if that isnt there then i dont know how to replace the wire without replacing the whole coil but i have heard ppl say it can be done

You can also use the NGK wire splicers.I used them on My old coils(have new Dynas now) a few years ago,and they work great.Just cut the plug-wire a couple/few inches from the coil, and splice in what ever new wires You want.
Scroll down on the page in this link and You'll see them.
