Regulator/rectifiers? was created by notaduc
How interchangeable are these? I have a few extras from other bikes, Im building a custom harness so I figure Id use one instead of paying for a replacement...

I have a 77 KZ1000 that had the original rectifier I replaced it with a used one off a police bike. works great. Had to relocate it as it would not fit in the original spot and make a new connector.

I was thinking one from a completely different bike.

I plan to relocate/rewire anyway.

main difference is single phase versus three phase, some regs use remote sensing at the battery. Some are rated for higher current than others.

Notaduc, I presume you are talking about combo rectifier / regulator units. If not this may not hold true...... If the bike is a Kawasaki and has a 3 phase alternator, then they will be interchangeable between models! I always use a 6 wire combo unit as opposed to a 5 wire.
Sorry, can't confidently advise on completely different make of bike
