That depends on what sort of trigger or pickup is involved and what it is connected to and whether you are talking about the speedo or the tach. What does the manufacturer say?
OK, I see the subject line says tach.

They are referring to crank versus cam driven ignitions.
The crank turns twice for every revolution of the cams.
Some bikes have the ignitions on the end of the crank, others up in the cam.

If you are talking about the cam driven mechanical tach.
The cam rotates once per engine revolution, but the tach drive pinion is much smaller than the drive gear on the cam, so, Id have to say its not 1:1
Im pretty sure its 4:1. I have my head apart, I will check when I put my cam back in this week.

I just saw you have a 440, thats a twin huh? Either way the cam rotates 1:1, but it depends on the gearing ratio between the cam/pinion. I have a 1000 four, which could very likely have a different ratio.
If you want to be 100% sure, you can disconnect the cable turn the engine over manually one full revolution and count how many times the cable turns.

Havent installed my cam yet (waiting for bearings). But the picture in my head of the gear drive was wrong, looking at it it may be 1:1.
So, ultimately, Im no help so far.
