i bought an 82 kz440 ltd.. i've been looking at pictures of cafe racer builds, and the common thread i see is that there is nothing in that little triangle part of the frame where cones on the intake would point..

it looks cool but i'm wondering where the stuff goes?? i've got my battery and fuse boxes in there.. where esle would they go?

Sometimes the battery and electrics are in that hump behind the seat. Small battery, kick only.

I usually squeeze the electronics in between the frame rails just under the seat pan. That way it leaves the tail empty for storage.

Here are some shots of work in progress.

My 550. No battery. Bump start.

You can just make out some of the wiring under the seat in this photo.

On this one I have the electronics mounted to the actual seatpan, so it's super easy to get to when the seat is open.

Here is a buddy's KZ400.

He has to retain the battery for his alternator to work, so we used a scooter battery. The battery was dead when we got it, but the bike doesn't seem to care. It wouldn't be able to light up lights when not running, but would still start on the first or second kick.

The regulator, rectifier, battery, and ignition relay are all tucked under the seat pan. This is sort of a mockup we did, but ended up keeping it. He only uses a kill switch as an ignition switch so there is a relay to sub in for an ignition switch.
